Hima Vamsi Gopalaraogari - Quality Engineer

Vamsi found himself drawn to Lloyds Technology Centre’s purpose, values, and forward-thinking approach to technology.

One of the primary reasons I was drawn to Lloyds Technology Centre was the insurance coverage provided. The organisation goes an extra mile to extend the coverage to not just spouse and children, but also parents and in-laws. That's a big deal, especially for someone like me who values family. Secondly, when I had to move from Chennai to Hyderabad for this job, the relocation benefits helped make the whole process a lot smoother.

“It's clear that Lloyds Technology Centre values its employees and is willing to holistically invest in them. It's definitely made me feel valued and appreciated as a part of this team.”

A unique and interactive induction

The three-day induction period was unlike anything I had experienced before, comprehensively covering aspects such as ways of working, the organisation’s values and what makes us different from others.

The informative sessions were interactive and engaging, with mentors guiding us on the team structure, our role and how we collaborate and contribute. In addition, sessions specifically curated to take us through the agile principles and squad-based working gave us an important glimpse into how teams operate here.

We were also introduced to the Group’s core values: People First, Bold, Inclusive, Sustainable, and Trust. These values are reflected in every aspect of our operations.

The induction gave me the clarity and confidence that I can voice my opinions and any concerns, knowing that there are multiple channels in place to address them. Every aspect of onboarding was meticulously planned to ensure a smooth transition.

"One value that particularly resonated with me was 'Bold’. Here, I feel empowered to speak up and take charge, regardless of my experience level."

A journey of continuous learning and growth

Another aspect that stood out was the focus on continuous learning. Here we have access to multiple learning platforms like Pluralsight and Workday Learning.

Our learning is not limited to our job roles. I’m encouraged to pursue knowledge beyond my immediate responsibilities. It just goes to show how keen Lloyds Technology Centre is to develop employees along with the organisation.

Lloyds Technology Centre is leagues ahead with regards to technology. While other companies stick to conventional solutions such as AWS or Azure, we harness Google Cloud Platform (GCP), a testament to our commitment to staying ahead of the curve. Even the tools and frameworks we use, such as JavaScript for automation, showcase our forward-thinking approach.

What truly captivated me was the opportunity to be part of projects right from their inception. I'm currently working on the Economic Crime Prevention Platform. In my opinion, it is one of the most interesting ongoing projects here, and my work involves enhancing the quality of the platform. Our engineering leads were incredibly supportive during the project induction and in setting up my environment. It's definitely a new and exciting area for me.

During my induction, I had the opportunity to connect with our Head of Engineering. Unlike my usual approach of tackling problems head-on, she taught me to consider multiple perspectives before reaching a conclusion. Even after the induction, I've had several opportunities to learn from her. She's been a guiding light in navigating my journey here.

In addition, my line manager has been incredibly supportive and patient. Having a mentor available to address any questions during knowledge transfer sessions has helped to build my confidence here.

Although I’ve only been here a short period of time, I'm already looking forward to spending many more years here. What excites me the most are the dynamic challenges and the opportunity to broaden my skill set. I truly believe that here, I can grow both professionally and personally. Overall, I'm looking forward to leveraging this opportunity to work on innovative projects, and to advance and thrive within the tech landscape.

“During my time here, I've had the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from different parts of the country, and it's been a truly enriching experience.”

Personal career aspirations at Lloyds Technology Centre

My goal is to become a subject matter expert, grow as a leader, manage multiple teams and collaborate with various engineering leads. This is just the beginning of my career, and I aim to build it in a way that allows me to take on greater responsibilities and contribute to our organisation's success.
